It was thrilling to start with such a project and was tailor-made for a cinematographer. "Shhh! was shot in the Picturesque malnad region of western ghats, majority of the film was shot at night effect and gave ample scope to show the creativity. The film went on to become a super hit and there was no looking back for Cashyap, he even won Best Cinematography "Aryabhata" Award in the year 1992-1993 for the film "Shhh". (Kannada feature film) Ashok Cashyap turning producer with a few film technicians jointly produced "Ulta Palta"(Kannada feature film) based on Shakespeare's Comedy of Errors. The film did well in the Box office and won Awards for Best supporting Actor and Best Screenplay from Karnataka State Government in the year 1997-1998. He is mainly known for helming the camera in films like, "Shaapa" (Kannada feature film) which had a soothing camera work, won the Best Cinematography Award from Karnataka State Government in the year 2000-2001. Directed by Ashok Patil an American graduate from Chapman Film University. In the year 2001 Matadaana (Kannada feature film) won National Award in Best regional feature film category. The famous Kannada novelist SL Bhyrappa's novel Mathadana was adapted to film with the same title Directed by TN Seetharam.
